Celebrating 15 Years with LCP

What do you enjoy most about working at LCP after 15 years with the firm?

Definitely the people and the culture. LCP is an exciting, successful firm, with so much passion and innovation. That keeps things fresh and interesting. I also love how we continue to evolve and diversify. We’re always thinking ahead; it sets us apart and it’s great to be part of that journey.

What’s your favourite thing about your role?

I really enjoy the problem solving element of my role. Compliance isn’t just about rules, it’s about supporting the business. My approach has always been “what do you want to do? Let’s see how we can make it happen”. We may need to adapt things slightly to suit, but I always enjoy finding solutions, not roadblocks, and the challenges that can bring.

What do you think makes LCP special?

It’s a combination of our people, our passion and the strength of our innovation. When I joined, LCP was a quarter of the size that it is now, but the culture has remained strong.

Our reputation is also a big part of what makes us different. What struck me from day one, was our strong client focus. The desire to always do the right thing and to find the best solutions for our clients. I found that really refreshing.

What are your hopes for LCP’s future?

To continue innovating, attracting great people and making an impact within and beyond our traditional client base. There’s so much exciting work happening across the firm, and it’s great to see how we’re broadening our reach and driving positive change. I hope to see this good work and momentum continue long into our future.

What advice would you give to yourself 15 years ago, on your first day at LCP?

Keep an open mind and take advantage of opportunities. Also don’t be afraid to speak up. If you have an idea, then share it. I think we really encourage that at LCP and that’s so important for our growth. There’s a big team spirit across the firm and everyone has the opportunity to make a difference.

Retiring after 25 years and 37 years respectfully, Shaun Southern and Gerri Rodrigues reflect on their highlights and favourite memories

Shaun Southern - Partner in Winchester Pensions Actuarial

Shaun Southern

After 25 full-on busy years at LCP, I have countless happy memories. Being part of LCP’s growth has been an absolute privilege, watching us evolve into the clear market leader and firm of choice – not just for our clients, but more importantly, for our people. There have been so many moments I treasure: the thrill of winning a new client after months of hard work, the pride of seeing colleagues excel, and the feeling of being part of something truly unique and special.

But my favourite memory? Well, it’s an odd one… A few years ago, a client I had never met in person called, asking me to be in Luxembourg the next morning to assist with pension aspects of a deal. I arrived late, worked into the night to prepare, but unfortunately forgot to set my alarm. Cue panic when I woke up late, grabbed my clothes, and rushed for the shower – which promptly blasted me and my only suit with freezing water. I thought I had salvaged the situation, until I met the client, only slightly late and slightly damp, and a drop of water rolled down my arm as I shook his hand. He looked at me and said, “Ah, you must be the actuary…”!

As for retirement, those who know me will appreciate I won’t be taking it too easy. I’ve got lots of trips and important family time planned this year, including an exciting trip to Abu Dhabi with the whole family for the Grand Prix, which will be all the more special by seeing my eldest who has just moved to Dubai. With a bit of time dedicated to improving my fitness and learning French, I’m not sure I’ll have much time for Netflix this year!

Gerri Rodrigues

As I prepare to retire after 37 wonderful years at LCP, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we've shared. It has been an honour and a privilege to work alongside such talented and dedicated individuals. Throughout my time here, I've witnessed remarkable growth and change within the firm. Together, we've navigated challenges, celebrated successes, and built lasting relationships. I am deeply grateful for the support, camaraderie, and friendship extended to me over the years.

I also want to highlight some of my favourite Facilities projects at LCP, which have been incredibly rewarding thanks to the joint efforts and participation of Senior Management members and our support departments, most notably Digital Services. These projects include: the floor-by-floor expansion of our old London office at 30 Old Burlington Street over a period of 25 years; opening the first LCP office in Winchester on Southgate Street; the expansion and move of the Winchester office to St Paul's House, and its continued growth into the amazing building it is today; the London office move and fit-out of Wigmore Street; and the final project (still in progress) to open a new office for LCP Delta in Edinburgh.

I'd like to make very special mention of the Facilities & Administration Managers and team members who do an absolutely wonderful job of supporting the needs of everyone at LCP. While I look forward to the new adventures that retirement will bring, I will always cherish the memories and experiences we've created together. Thank you for making my career at LCP so fulfilling and memorable.

Wishing you all continued success and happiness in the years to come!

Gerri Rodrigues - Head of Facilities and Administration

Skills Walkabout

Back in January we hosted our Skills Walkabout event in our London and Winchester offices. The event was a huge success, with over 400 LCPers taking part across the two days, all engaging in conversations about what our different departments do, identifying collaboration opportunities, and exploring the skills that drive success across LCP.

As one attendee put it:

"This was a fantastic event giving a unique opportunity to delve into the other departments at LCP - I was really impressed by the event and came away feeling super positive about LCP!"

We were also particularly impressed by how creative each of our department reps had been with their stalls! From 'hook-a-duck' and 'spin the wheel', to guessing games, quizzes and prizes galore! It was a wonderful, fun packed couple of hours. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported - here are a few photos from the event!
