French Connection: A Spotlight on our Paris Team

Can you tell us a bit about yourselves and your roles?

Mladena: I joined LCP Delta in 2023 previously working for the French Energy Regulator. I am a Consultant in LCP Delta’s consultancy team and I lead the business development activities in France on the consultancy side, driving forward our ambitious growth plans!

Rici: I joined the company in 2018. I was originally based in Edinburgh, but moved to France just over a year ago. I am the Research Data Lead, and I sit within our Tech & Data team, but work very closely with the Subscription Research team.

What type of work do you support clients with?

Rici: Everyone in the Paris team works within LCP Delta (LCP’s Energy transition practice, providing consulting, subscription research and technology products to companies across the energy sector, helping them to accelerate the energy transition). Our team in Paris spans most areas of the business with 2 in Consulting, 2 in Business development, 1 in Tech & Data and 4 in Subscription Research.

Mladena: Alongside that, we are looking to grow our French business to better serve more companies in the French energy space and build our name as experts within this market. Across subscription research and consultancy, we work with French retailers, utilities and manufacturers where we can contribute to helping them drive the energy transition forwards. At present, our clients are the big players, but we have an ambition to expand to many of the smaller players too.

Why was Paris chosen as an office location?

Rici: Delta-EE, as we were before we joined LCP, was always a company with a European focus. As we grew we decided to open an office in mainland Europe to be closer to our clients and the European market.

Mladena: Being in Paris means we can gain a deeper understanding of the market. It’s important to clients and prospects here that we deliver our work in French and become more integrated into the French energy transition community. Having a local presence enables us to do that and build those relationships.

What’s the office like?

Rici: We have an office in a shared working space called Deskopolitan. It's a super nice space, with a coffee bar, roof terrace, and lots of organised workshops. They provide breakfast every Monday and 'Desko desserts’ once a month too!

Mladena: We're based in the 11th arrondissement, between Nation and Place de la Bastille. It’s great to be located in central east Paris, in a nice neighbourhood with lots of character. The co-working space is a really nice place to be.

What’s the team culture like?

Rici: We have a really nice team culture, and we do a lot together. Like most people in France, we take our lunch seriously! We always have lunch together, and do things together socially outside of work too, which has been nice for me moving to a new city to have colleagues who are also friends.

Across the team we have 7 different nationalities from France, North Macedonia, Lebanon, India, Morocco, Italy and the UK, so it's a really international team.

Mladena: The diversity that we all bring is the beauty of the team and how we get along. We’re all very supportive of one another and very sociable. You really feel that you belong to a team.

We have a team meeting once a month to help build everyone’s knowledge of what’s happening in the French market. It has become our tradition to enjoy a dessert during that meeting, provided by one of us; Mladena’s healthy treats, Rici’s Welsh cakes, or some traditional French chouquettes.

What does the team do socially?

Rici: Mladena does a great job at planning social things to do as a team!

Mladena: Thanks Rici! Well, this is an important part of what keeps our bond strong, and I really enjoy organising our events. I’m also part of the LCP Social Committee, so there are lots of firm-wide activities we get involved in. We’ve done bowling, escape rooms, indoor climbing, darts, beach volleyball and a paint class which was really good. Our next team event is a Candlelight concert with Queen music!

Rici: For our recent team celebrations, we had a boat ride along the Seine. It was super nice and sunny (which was lucky as it has been quite wet here over the past month!)

What are your top recommendations for someone visiting Paris for the first time?

Rici: There are the main Paris landmarks, but Paris is just a nice city to explore on foot. There are great places to eat, and I'd certainly recommend an amazing cheese and wine bar Mladena took us to called “Les petits crus”. Personally, I live near Fontainebleau, and would recommend exploring the forest around there, only 40 minutes south of Paris (especially if you are into climbing!)

Mladena: I would also recommend experiencing Paris like a Parisian. A walk along the Seine is lovely, especially between May and September. There are lots of nice restaurants and bars in little boats. It’s very nice to see different monuments and see Paris from a different perspective. Place des Vosges is a place that I like in the Marais area, with lots of art galleries, nice shops and restaurants. Another place I would recommend, (a “hidden gem”) is a stroll around “the countryside in Paris”. It’s a neighbourhood in the 20th arrondissement with cobbled streets, small brick or stone houses, flower-filled gardens, and staircases whose secrets are known only to the north of the capital.

And one more recommendation - eat good pastries of course!
