Introducing big changes to volunteering
On Thursday 1st May, the Giving Back Network launched a new partnership with Employee Volunteering (EV). We held a launch event with a presentation from Sam, a representative from EV, which was held in London and streamed to the other offices. Tamsin, another EV rep, was in the Winchester office to any answer questions from LCPers. Plus, (and just as importantly) there was cake for people attending in person!
Who are EV?
EV are a UK-based social enterprise dedicated to creating volunteering programmes for businesses. With over 15 years of experience, they specialise in designing, sourcing and organising volunteering opportunities that benefit employees, businesses, and communities.
New volunteering opportunities
The new partnership means that we will be able to organise more regular volunteering opportunities, so you’ll have more chances to make use of your paid volunteering hours. We already have a volunteering event lined up on Thursday 19 June in London. There are spaces available and you can sign up for a morning or an afternoon.
If you’re interested, you can either sign up via Viva Engage, or complete this form to sign up and someone from the Giving Back Network will be in touch.
Get in touch with a member of the Network if you’d like to get involved. We have more volunteering announcements coming soon, so look out for news for us on Connect!
Other volunteering opportunities
We have other regular volunteering opportunities throughout the year. Here’s what’s coming up:
Trinity – Winchester 2 July and 6 August
Trinity are one of our partner charities, and there are monthly opportunities to volunteer in their kitchens. SmartWorks – London 7 August
SmartWorks help women with employability skills and provide them with smart work clothes. This opportunity would be a morning helping the charity to sort clothing donations in their Islington centre.
LCP Foundation
Following the recent elections, we’re excited to introduce the new members of the Foundation Committee: Ali Asghar, David Grain, Maisie Borrows Ahmad, Morgan Llewelyn, Rebecca McGregor, Selina Newcombe, Ken Willis, and Lia Licietis.
Thank you to everyone who stood for election and to those who voted.
Thank you also to LCPers for continuing to support the Foundation and the vital causes we champion. We’re looking forward to what the next quarter brings - and seeing the new Committee in action!
Get in touch
We're hoping to match a greater number of fundraising activities this year. If you have a charity you're keen to raise money for or are attending an event and wish to fundraise, please contact a member of the LCP Foundation who will be happy to help!

FAME Awards
Our FAME Awards (Foundation Awards for aMazing Event) recognise individuals across LCP who go the extra mile in organising fundraising activities.
This quarter, FAME Awards were presented to Graham De’ath, for his Winchester Music Night in aid of Sophie’s Legacy, and to Frances Heath, for organising the Festive Afternoon Tea. Each received an additional £500 to donate to a charity of their choice.

Golden Buzzer
This quarter, buzzers were pressed in support of the Alzheimer’s Society, Connection Support, InCommon and Mind.
Each buzz provides the respective charity with an extra £500 to further their causes.

A Visit from Sophie’s Legacy
We welcomed Charlotte Fairall, founder and CEO of Sophie’s Legacy, to a recent Foundation Committee meeting. Charlotte shared her powerful and moving story about her daughter, Sophie, and the charity’s mission to fulfil Sophie’s vision of better support for families with children in hospital.
